||KLM is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name. KLM was founded on October 7, 1919, and the first flight was made on the London-Amsterdam route on 17 May 1920.
In 2003, KLM began replacing its Boeing 747-300s, MD-11s, and Boeing 767s with a combination of Boeing 777-200 ERs and Airbus A330-200s.
KLM has replaced its Boeing 747-300 freighters with Boeing 747-400 ER freighters. The first Boeing 777 was delivered in October 2003. Seven aircraft of this type have now been delivered. They are being deployed on around 10 intercontinental routes, serving destinations in nine countries on four continents (e.g. Cape Town, New York and Tokyo). KLM will take delivery of its first new Airbus in the fall of 2005.
